Center Senior Living

Helping our community age with care, close to home.

Est. 2021

  • The Center Senior Living Board was founded with a dream of providing assisted living housing so that our community members can stay local as they age.  With plans in place to utilize a currently empty former school building centrally located in Grand Coulee (and aptly named Center School); the project will help revitalize the area and provide a central location for residents and their guests with motels, restaurants, shopping and grocery within walking distance.

The 2022 Market Study that we commissioned with funding from our Grand Coulee Senior Center makes it clear that there is ample demand and critical need for a facility in the Grand Coulee Dam area.  Additionally, income levels among local seniors 75+ were evaluated and deemed adequate to pay for assisted living at the rates the facility would need to charge to be successful.

With the need confirmed and our mission clearly defined, the Center Senior Living Board has partnered with experts in the field to advance the project.

    ·      Westby & Associates has helped us attack the enormous challenge of raising adequate funds for the project.  Over the past 25 years they have worked primarily in rural areas leveraging local philanthropy with regional foundations and public support from the state and federal levels.

    ·      Our partner for designing and building the facility is Careage Construction who has built over 400 health care facilities across the US. Their primary construction market includes senior housing, multi-family residential, and healthcare facilities and their expertise in the requirements and best design of such spaces as well as their assessment of costs is invaluable.

    ·      Finally, Senior Services of America is on-board to run the facility once built.  As of the close of 2024, Senior Services of America operates 19 facilities in three states and more than 14,000 apartments offering life enrichment programs and care services for seniors.  Their experience and detailed assessment of the income and expenses of running such a facility have been critical in concluding that this project is fully feasible.

With a motivated and diverse board having ample relevant expertise, strategically qualified partners, and strong community engagement, Center Senior Living is poised for success.

  • 2021 A Senior Housing Need Recognized: The Grant County Economic Development Council (EDC) recognized a pressing need for senior housing in the Grand Coulee area. In order to address this need the EDC consulted an experienced senior living operator (Senior Services of America) and identified a potential site for use - the former Center Elementary School. After consulting a construction company (Careage Construction) to see if the old school could be renovated, the team decided that Grand Coulee was a great area to develop an Assisted Living and the former Center Elementary School was conveniently located and ideal for renovation. Senior Services of America and Careage Construction both remain involved in 2025 marking years of dedication to this area and community.
